Healthy Living without Breaking the Bank (plus a discount)

Hey everyone, the WELL Summit is less than a week away and I'm excited to see many of you there! I have the pleasure of attending the event for the first time as a WELL Insider and I'm looking forward to hearing of new ways to impact Wukkout!® as well as my overall life. I plan to take it all in and share with you all some tips I've learned along with the overall experience. Still, I thought it would be cool to kick things off by sharing five ways you can get healthier and get some exercise in without breaking the bank.

1) Take classes at the Athleta Studio – The beautiful Athleta Studio, located on the lower level of the Athleta Flatiron store, offers numerous fitness and wellness classes per week. Many of them are free community classes and are open to the public. Additionally, paid classes are available at $18/class or $15/class if you purchase a package (you won’t find prices cheaper than that in Manhattan). Sign up can be done via their MindBody site. While you’re there, be sure to check out our free weekly Wukkout! classes on Friday evenings at 6pm.

2) Check out the CityParks Website – The NYC Parks Department offer free fitness programming and other healthy activities for all ages throughout the 5 boroughs, all year round. Activities include everything from aerobics classes to healthy cooking demos; these are usually free and open to the public. Stay tuned for Wukkout!® classes coming to a city park near you in Spring 2019!

3) Check your local Library – A little known secret is that the libraries offer so much more than books nowadays; they have become a hub for all things community. Stop by your local library to check out their program offerings. Programming ranges from a variety of fitness classes to cultural workshops and activities - again - all free and open to the public - and heads up, you’ll even be able to find Wukkout!® there soon.

4) Tie on those sneakers and head outdoors! If you’re not really a class person or just like being outside, one of the quickest, most effective ways to get a workout in is strap on your sneakers and hit the pavement.  Going out for a run will give you a total body workout and won’t cost you a dime. Not much of a runner? Power walking is also an effective low-impact activity with many of the same health benefits as running.

5) Donation based Yoga - Another great way to get some classes in on a budget is to take donation based yoga classes. Many small yoga studios throughout the city offer at least one donation based class per week. A quick Google search of “donation based yoga near me” will pull up several suggestions. Some studios will allow you to pay what you can - even if it’s a dollar - while others may have a set minimum payment. Either way, donation based yoga is a great way to get some bang for your buck.

Wukkout!® x Pure Vibes at CITE Week 2018

We are thrilled to have been invited to participate in Caribbeans in Tech & Entrepreneurship Week's "Pure Vibes" event on Thursday June 28th.  Founder, Krista Martins, alongside Wukkout!® Instructor, Tyrone, will be doing a short demo as well as sharing a little bit about Wukkout!® and all things Caribbean.  Additionally, the keynote speaker will be app developer, Ravi Ramkeesoon and music will be provided by DJ Shatter Proof.  The event is hosted by Mikelah of Style & Vibes.  More details and RSVP info below.

June is Caribbean-American Heritage Month. A time to celebrate and acknowledge Americans from the Caribbean Diaspora. 
We are back again this year for the 2nd annual Caribbeans In Tech and Entrepreneurship Week , also know as CITE Week. A week filled with workshops, demos, expos, networking opportunities, music, and most of all delicious food! 
Join us for good times from June 25th - 30 as we celebrate, network with, and explore Caribbean Techies and Entrepreneurs. 
All events will be live streamed. So that anyone anywhere in the diaspora can join!

On Saturday March 31st, we had the pleasure of participating in Sweatfest 2 at Milk River Lounge.  Wukkout!® Founder, Krista, was joined by instructors Allie, Ariana and Tyrone and they brought the house down!

Wukkout!® Happy Hour: Spring Edition

Winter is over and we are ready to celebrate! Join us as we bring Wukkout!® Soca Fitness to 333 Lounge on Flatbush Avenue first Mondays this Spring.

First, wuk up a sweat and wine down low with and then feel free to stay and join us for low calorie drink specials. If you'd like to get there earlier, happy hour will run from 5-8pm.  Classes will be lead by Wukkout!® Instructor Tyrone and will begin at approximately 7:15pm.  Grab your friends, grab your flag and come Wukkout!® with us!

Wukkout!® x Athleta: Friends & Family Class and Shop Party

It's that time of year again! Join Wukkout!® Founder and Athleta Brand Ambassador, Krista Martins, for a special Friends & Family Wukkout!® Class followed by a shop party, on Friday March 9th.

Wukkout!® is Heading to Long Island!

We are beyond excited to announce that Wukkout!® is heading to Long Island this February!  Wukkout!® Instructor, Allie, will be holding 5 classes in Floral Park, NY (it's close for our Queens people too) through the end of the month.  The first two classes will be free and the remaining 3 classes will be only $9.00 per class.  Pre-registration is highly recommended.  See details below.

Weekly Classes are Coming to Queens!

It's been a long time coming but weekly Wukkout!® classes are heading to Queens!  Join Wukkout!® Instructor, Ariana, at the South Ozone Park Library, for FREE ongoing classes beginning Monday February 5th.  The class time is 6pm and no pre-registration is required.  Click here to get a taste of what class with Ariana will be like and see details below.

Wukkout!® is teaming up with MetroPlus Health Plan of NY and the Coney Island Hospital to help you crush your 2018 fitness goals.  Join us for a FREE, 8 week fitness "tour" of South Brooklyn.  At each stop you will be able to participate in a Wukkout!® class with one of our #teamwukkout instructors as well as receive healthy eating education from our nutritionist on site, Healthtrition.  We want to keep you moving and keep you motivated so for anyone who attends all 8 classes, you will be entered into a raffle to win a shop card for a new exercise outfit from Athleta Flatiron in NYC or a 3 month membership from the Coney Island YMCA.

We're kicking it all off with a celebration this Wednesday January 24th at the Coney Island YMCA from 6:30-8:30pm.  Power 105.1 FM will be on site to provide us with music AND the Coney Island YMCA is generously raffling off another 3 month membership to one lucky winner out of everyone who participates in the Wukkout!® class that begins at 7:30pm.  The class is free and open to the public (you do not have to be a YMCA member to attend) so tell a friend to tell a friend and come jump and wave with us!  Details for the kick-off celebration as well as the remaining 7 classes can be found below.
